Grumman J2F Duck
Materials: Wood, Acryclics
Size: aprox. 120 cm x 70 cm x 8 cm
This Grumman Duck is the first work I made in wood, breaking free of the square, flat canvas. Working on it was awesome. This airplane actually existed and was used as a small transport plane since before the second world war. Heavily overburdened with five passengers in a small cabin intended for two, it was the last plane to take of from Bataan, the Philippines, right before the Japanese invasion. Stylized elements in the background are inspired on this context.
